This week's challenge is a color challenge at Less is More. Since this is the first week of the month, and the challenge is color....we'll be using PASTEL COLOURS. Now, I'll readily admit, I rarely use pastels, so this was definitely a challenge for me. I'd start a card and realize that the color I added wasn't pastel. So I hope this card fits the challenge!
I tried to make this card soft and delicate...not sure I succeeded. I used the small Carnation stamp from Papertrey Ink. I stamped on a white vellum. I couldn't find a pink that would show up when dried, so I had to improvise and use the real red from SU and stamp it off on white paper before stamping on the vellum. I then masked the first flower and continued to stamp the flower over and over, masking as I stamped. I added a little chalking to the centers and the edges of the flowers. Then I cut out around the edges of the flower border I'd stamped. I put it on the card and realized that the card was so white that it overshadowed the soft stamping on the vellum. So..to remedy that, I put a sheet of vellum on top of the white card base and then layered the cut out flower (stamped on vellum) on top of it. I stamped the sentiment in black Stazon ink on the vellum, then added three small pearls to the top right corner. I didn't have pink, so I had to color the white pearls with a pink Copic marker. I think my idea for a card was simple enough, it just took me a while to master it!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Until next time....
Hugs!!

Susan, this is lovely. I love the masked stamping and you have achieved a beautiful effect, by technique rather than straight ink colour choice.

A fabulous card - if you hadn't told us be process behind it no-one would ever know you had used real red for the ink
I love the way the flowers turned out! I am impressed with your card because vellum intimidates me and I have also never tried using the masking technique. Wonderful card!
A fabulous creation - the stamp is really pretty and you have used it to perfection.
Looks like you are having fun with flowers! :) Brilliant card and neat techniques! I am not brave enough to try them yet but...someday! :)

Wow! This is fabulous, Susan! I love the subtle shades of pink. A stunning card. That stamp is a beauty. Unfortunately it is nigh on impossible to get paper trey ink stamps here, and to get them shipped over is very expensive. Thanks for your lovely comments

Hi Susan thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment, much appreciated.
Vellums are sometimes undervalued in how they can change a card. Beautiful stamping and you have such precise cut edges... A fabulous card:-)
I really like this. I like how you stamped on vellum and how the flowers frame the edges of the card. Really pretty.
Oh, how lovely! I think it's very soft and delicate. The chalks are perfect for something like this. Love my chalks!
Definitely successfully soft and delicate! Warmest wishes, Lesley
Stamping on the vellum was a great idea; cutting the flowers out and adding them to more vellum was a really great idea! What a great look!
I have something for you on my blog;)
