Three Challenges!

I know it's been a while, but I just can't seem to always get things posted in a timely manner! LOL!  I always have good intentions...but...you know what they say about good intentions! I did manage to get three cards made and I'm actually getting them posted!

I did get a couple of cards made for the Twofer Challenge...and one of them fits the sketch for the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.  The flower card also fits in with The Flower Challenge.

Here's my cards for the Twofer Challenge which is "hearts".

As you can see by the strip of "hearts" in front of the cards...this is the stamp I've used for two different cards.

The stamp is from PTI (and I've had it forever!) and is a single heart that I've stamped several times.  The card on the right was made by stamping the hearts down a strip of paper.  I layered the white stamped strip on a piece of red card stock and adhered to the card base.  The sentiment is also from PTI and was heat embossed in white on a piece of the red card stock and then punched with a heart punch.  I added tiny dots of white with a gel pen.

This card was made by stamping the hearts and cutting them out.  I paper pieced the hearts to a circle cut from red card stock.  I hand cut the flower stem and leaves from green card stock. Sentiment is from PTI.  I added a large pearl to the center of the flower and heat embossed the sentiment with black embossing powder.

This card doesn't really fit a challenge that I know of...it's just one that I made for my son's birthday which will be on the 24th of this month.  My baby....he'll be 39!!! WOW! Where does the time go!!!  I used a really old SU set for the leaf and the background.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from PTI.  I cut the bottom point using a large hexagon die, then added the strips of brown on top of it.  I also scored lines across the top and down the sided of the white.

As always, thanks so much for stopping in.  I appreciate your visit...and I appreciate each and every comment!

The Flower Challenge and CAS Watercolour Challenge...and SO much more!

Got a couple of things to share with you today.  I've been so busy these past few weeks! Made a couple of cards today that will fit perfect with the Flower Challenge "anything goes" theme and the CAS Watercolour Challenge with a "spring" theme.

Both cards actually fit the Flower Challenge...but the second card is for the CAS Watercolour March challenge. Let's get started....

Have you ever opened your mouth and made a statement, only to realize over a week later that you really should keep your mouth shut?...Yeah, me too....thus the You Matter to Me card.  I used Altenew stamps for the blooms, and SSS You Matter sentiment.  I used two background stamps...one for the stripes on the card base (IO) and the other for the background under the flowers (PB). Added a few dots with some Nuvo and card done.

I used one of my favorite dies for this card....the Penny Black Poppy die.  The sentiment is from SSS You Matter stamp set.  The background for the flowers was a piece of water color paper that I was practicing my "smooshing" on. The poppies were also cut from watercolor paper and painted with water colors. I used a SSS stitched rectangle die to cut the background piece from the watercolor background paper that I'd "smooshed" color onto. For a little "extra" I flicked a few splatters of red and teal onto the background.

I seem to flit from one thing to another...and here's part of the reason why.

Got me a new "toy" a few weeks ago and I've been thoroughly enjoying it!  I've been really busy for the last couple of months making clothes to send on a couple of mission trips for my church.  One trip is to Haiti this month, and the other trip is to Alaska in August.  I've made almost 72 items thus far...shorts, dresses, bibs, burp cloths, blankets, knitted booties and caps, knitted dish cloths....the list goes on.  I think I made more shorts than anything...31 in all!  Anyway, this machine will do SO much more and I can't wait to learn more (embroidery and monogramming!)

In the mist of learning my new machine...I got a wild hair to make an exploding photo box of my great granddaughter for my grandson and his wife.  See...jumping from one thing to another! LOL!

I made pics of all the inside pages, but decided that would be TOO photo heavy!

Last weekend, I made a trip to visit my daughter, so I could see my granddaughter all dressed up for prom.  They do something different at their proms...they have something called "lead out" where all the couples are introduced and all the parents come to watch "lead out".  It was really a nice event. Here's a photo of my beautiful granddaughter and her date.

As I said before...BOY! have I been busy! Now I'm trying to play catch up all in one blog post!  I need to try to post a little more often!

That's all for me today....As always, thanks so much for stopping in.  I appreciate your visit...and I appreciate each and every comment!

One-Layer Simplicity Challenge #32 and The Flower Challenge #1

This is my second post for today....I have a two cards to share with you...one for the One-Layer Simplicity Challenge #32 and the other for a new challenge at The Flower Challenge #1.....So let's get started!

OLSWe would love you to display our banner !

This was a fun card to create.  I haven't done much ink blending lately (mostly because I've been playing with my water colors!).  I masked off the rectangle in the center with some post-it tape and blended some distress inks (candy apple red, carved pumpkin, and squeezed lemonade).  I removed the post-it tape and stamped the silhouette image from Paper Smooches in versafine black.  After making sure the distress ink was completely dry, I stamped the sentiment from SSS and heat embossed it in white. I added the faux stitched border with a dark orange memento marker.  Super simple card...but I love how it turned out.

And now...here's the card for the Flower Challenge....

I absolute LOVE this flower from Penny Black!  I stamped it on Bristol paper and colored it with Zig Clean Color Markers.  Then....I fussy cut this flower!  Those tiny stems are VERY fragile!  I also used a black marker to color all of the edges of the image after I cut it out.  I cut a panel of white card stock about 4 x 5.5 inches and used an embossing folder (Tim Holtz, I think) to emboss the bricks.  I cut the center of the panel out using an oval die from Spellbinders BEFORE putting it in the embossing folder.  I used a little distress ink on the card base for the background and some splatters from the ink as well as some water splatters.  The sentiment is from Winnie and Walter...stamped in black.  I fussy cut the word hello and then cut a small rectangle for the word friend. Both words are adhered directly to the brick panel. I slipped the flower behind the oval and popped ups the blooms with some foam tape. I added a dark pink border down each sided of the card (it actually matches the blooms IRL!).

I know I'm going to love this flower challenge!  It seems that most of my cards feature a flower of some kind!

As always, thanks so much for stopping in.  I appreciate your visit...and I appreciate each and every comment!
