Challenge 35 - A Tile in a Tile...huh?

Yes...the challenge this week at I am the diva is..... to create a "Tile on a Tile". Place the dots way in from the corners and leave a very generous border. Add your pencil string over the entire tile. You'll need to think about which tangles are darker and which are lighter, to help define the mini-tile, although shading will help too. You may want a light mini-tile on a dark background, or a dark mini-tile on a light background.

Well, I'm not sure I did this exactly right...but here's my tries. I used a 4 x 4 tile for both tangles.  For the first one, I made the center tile...and it's kind of small, then added the outer borders ....guess I didn't actually draw a "string".  I'm a rebel like that sometimes! LOL!

This second one is my favorite.  I decided to have a center tile in a circle...the light area....then added darker tangles around the outside going all the way to the edges of the tile.

So...tell me what you think...which is your favorite.  Thanks for popping over to visit! Your comments are always welcomed and greatly appreciated!  Until next time....

♥ Hugs! ♥

Both are great Susan but I do prefer the first one. Your eye is definitely drawn more into the central tile and I also like all the different arms/legs/tendrils? coming out from the centre. xx

I love them.....the second one makes me hungry. The center looks like an exotic cookie! Your contrast in the pieces is riveting. Yep they are yummy!

The delicate shading on the first is really lovely. It would also be interesting if the 'line' parts went to the edge. I like the "frame" around your 'mini-tile' - looks a bit like a picture frame.
(You must be prescient! Did you know that Zentangle is working on some round tiles?!)

Hi Susan, I love the tangles you've been showing us lately. Do you have any plans to, or would you consider, producing a tutorial. I've found your other tutorials really easy to follow so I've got my fingers crossed.

I have looked on the Zentagle sites on the web but don't actually find their instructions very easy to follow.

They are both lovely but the second one really catches my eye - especially the circle.

They are both fantastic Susan but the first one is my favourite, it looks as if there are pearls and gem escaping from the square! The shadowing is so effective as well, I'd love to sit and watch you do one. Perhaps you could do a video for youtube:))

My favourite is the first one with the lovely frame, may be it's the 'Less is More' side of me coming out!

I don't know which I like better. The first looks like a great party with wonderful streamers. But the bottom one is cool with the circle (which I wouldn't have thought of) and I really love the tangle on the bottom right of it, which looks like flowers. I'm pretty new to this, so I don't know if it has an official name.

Love them both, but since you asked, the first one would have to be my favorite.
