This week's challenge at Less is More is to create a card using ink. I think Chrissie and Mandi sit up nights just to come up with these difficult challenges! LOL! Well, every week I use ink, but this week the challenge is to use ink (or ink pads) in a different way than I normally would. I can tell you, this was definitely a challenge for me. I thought and thought...nothing.
Finally, I decided to drag out my tattered angels misting sprays (that's ink....right?) I must have 8 or 10 bottles of this stuff....and ~hiding face in shame~ I've never actually used it on a project! So, what the heck....might as well give it a whirl. After about 4 attempts, I finally finished this card and I'm reasonably satisfied with it.
I used a Kraft card base and masked off the area I wanted to spray with the glimmer mists. I used a golden yellow on the top portion and the bottom portion I used a ivy green. Both have a shimmer to them, but I'm not sure you can tell by this photo. The sentiment is a Tim Holtz sentiment, the grass and flowers are from PTI and the butterfly is a Bo Bunny stamp. I doodled a little trail for the butterfly. I also stamped the butterfly in gold, then again in brown. It looks cool in real life, but it's hard to see here. I might also mention that the glitter mist sprays buckle the card stock pretty bad, so I had to work to flatten the card after I was finished.
Not being totally satisfied, I decided to give something else a try. I've used this method before and had relatively good success. Should have known it wouldn't be so easy this time.
I used a white card base and masked off the area for inking with post it notes. I sponged some green and blue inks inside the masked area. The plants are PTI stamps as is the sentiment (from two different collections). This card I have posted is the third card I made...totally messed up the first two...bad inky messes. Maybe I should have posted them...after all, this challenged was about being Inky! LOL!
Thought I'd also share a few of the tangles I've been making lately. This first one kind of reminds me of a flower. The image is drawn on a 5 x 5 inch square of white Bristol board.
This second one was for a challenge to complete a tangle using circles. This one was also on a 5 x 5 inch piece of Bristol board.
I love how this one turned out....I think I'll call it The Mouth! I was inspired by a drawing I saw that is very similar to the way this one turned out.
♥ Hugs! ♥

Hi Susan, my, you have been busy! Your LIM cards are great - can definitely see the shimmer on the first one. Congratulations on trying something differently and succeeding! Tangles are awesome. Lynn x
My gosh you have been busy, love your inked backgrounds on both of your cards and the stamps are ace. And WOW to your tangleing (is that a word hehe) how awsome are they! :)
What a fabulous bunch of cards Susan, believe me when I say that Mandi and I don't intentionally try to put everyone through purgatory... but we must admit we are thrilled with many of the results.
Presumably you used ink to make your tangle cards too!
A terrific array!
Thanks so much

Wow ~ you take the cake or should I say ink?! you made so many great cards ~ The glimmer mist looks pretty, the fact that it made the card buckle is a bummer. You can't tell anymore though. I like how the sky turned out on the 2nd card, lot's of great cloud patterns. My favorite are these tangles ~ really cool, I especially like the circles! -Karen
Gorgeous cards, stunning inky effects, want to play but think it's bedtime, maybe tomorrow! Carolxx
love both cards. the beauty of the simplicity, and the doodles are gorgeous too. yup looks like a monster mouth...
Both cards have turned out brilliantly Susan! You can see the shimmer on the first (although I'd love to have a closer look at that butterfly!) and it's very effective. Love your masked scene too and those amazing zentangles.
These are brilliant Susan, I'm glad your happy with them. I love the sky in your second card, it looks so textured!
Great zentangles too they really are so detailed, love 'The Mouth' design :)

Two beautiful cards, love the shimmer on the first and the cloud effect on the second. They look so perfect you wouldn't think there had been any struggle at all!
Your zentangles are works of art, fantastic and will be gorgeous framed on a wall. x
Your Tattered Angels spray worked fabulously Susan, as did your second sponged card. Your Zentangling is absolutely stunning. I've never tried this - to frightened, as it involves using a pen in my hand. If you could see my handwriting you would understand where I am coming from lol

Love them all Susan xx Jan
Another knockout collection Susan! The first one is my favourite - the shimmer on the kraft is a brilliant contrast of textures and styles - love it!

All are gorgeous. I can just see a hint of the shine of glimmer mist on the first one - I bet it is gorgeous IRL. And I love the way you have created clouds on the second.

Two lovely cards again Susan, the colours look amazing. Love how made the little 'scenes'really come to life. As for the zentangles wow!!!!!:O) Viv xx
You've taken the word 'ink' and made it your own this week Susan. StUnNiNg cards all of them. You are so clever to make the zentangles, i have tried many times but my attempts are usually useless and don't make any sense lol. My favourite is the 'mouth'...
Both of your other cards are really beautiful. Don't you find that we use many techniques without thinking about them but as soon as we are asked to produce cards our brains go into meltdown sometimes.
Finding breathing slowly and leaving ideas to brew sometimes helps other times i can't wait to get started.
Have a great week:-)
Gorgeous cards Susan, love both your inking techniques and really admire your skills at zentangling. Carol x
My goodness Susan, your work is stunning. I had to laugh about all the Tattered Angels mists that you never used - I have used mine twice lately, but I surely have owned them a Looooooooooooooooong time! Your inky cards are gorgeous. The one I posted this week got inky in places where it shouldn't, but I could not bear to make it again. Your tangles fascinate me... they are just wonderful to look at - reminds me of Escher... you are so talented and I so appreciate your encouragement and help. I still have not gotten around to soften my edges, but I will get there. xo
This is beautiful, Susan. Love the greens and your layout is perfect. Gorgeous tangles, too, by the way! Ann
Wow! What amazing cards! I lvoe the zentangles and the sky on the second one is so realistic. Fabulous cards!
All of them are brilliant - still haven't attempted zentangles but might just give one a go now. Thanks for rmeinding me. Hazel x
These are all beautiful but that first card is just stunning!
