This week the challenge from Laura at I am the Diva is to create a tangle with a single red thread running through it. This challenge is to help raise awareness of the mission of The Red Thread Promise. Our challenge was to create a traditional black and white tangle tile with a single red "thread" running through it.
I struggle with using color on my tangles. I love looking at other peoples tangles that color has been added to, but it never looks right when I do it. That's how I ended up with four different tangles!
I actually did all of these on 3.5 x 3.5 which is the traditional size for a Zentangle, but not the size I generally work with. This is the first tile I did. Definitely didn't like it (and probably shouldn't have posted it! LOL!). It just looks weird!
This second tile is a bit better. I love the dimension I got on this one, but I still wasn't satisfied.
I think this third one is my favorite of the four tiles. I drew one large circle with a red pen, then added circles in each quadrant of the red circle. Then I used light and dark tangles on each side of the red circle.
I'm not sure where I was going with this one, but decided I'd go ahead and post it. Maybe I should have left the flowers off?
Just throwing this last piece in so I can ask a question. Is this a tangle that someone has already drawn? I did this while messing around with my tangles, and thought I had come up with a new design, but it might already be out there and I just don't know it. If anyone knows if it's a new one, let me know and I'll post directions about how I drew it. I used it in the fourth tile above and colored in the centers.
Thanks so much for stopping by! As always, your comments are greatly appreciated! Until next time...
♥ Hugs! ♥

I like that red thread running through. It adds a little surprise.
I like all your tiles, especially the first one!
I don't recognize the pattern in the fifth one. It looks similar to one, but I can't remember the name of it. I don't think it's the same, or even a tangleation, though.
Lovely tiles!
These are just fab Susan. My favourite is the one with the flowers but I also love the flow of the red line in the first one. Your final tangle is superb, to me it looks quite celtic. xx
These are all really nice. The last one is an amazing pattern. Very cool that you can just "tangle it up" at a sitting. It looks quite complicated to me.
Lovely circles. I love your works.

They are all fantastic, I like the flowers you added and the touch of red.

We DID both use the same spiral-y string:) Very cool. And I love your new tangle. I don't think I have seen it anywhere else.
Great tiles! I like them all. Your pattern reminds me of OOF from the zentangle May 7th newsletter. You've added so many wonderful embellishments though. I'd love to see how you approach it.
They are all beautiful even if you don't think so!
The name of the mystery tangle is "OoF". If you go to tanglepatterns.com and look it up, there is a link to the Zentangle.com website where they talk about it.
All are beautiful zentangles, my favorite is the first one, but I also like the touch of the flowers in the 3rd one. Great minds think alike on your last tangle pattern. It does look like a tangelation of Oof, and very well done I might add.
Hi Susan,
Your tiles are all beautiful - you are very ambitious. I especially like the positive/negative look of the circle tile. The dimensionality of the 2nd tile is stunning. Good stuff!
Great work on ALL these tiles, Susan. The first one is especially lovely.
Jolly fun Susan!
Oh! my goodness, these are amazing
