LIM 113 - Lime and Black

First of all let me say I was tickled pink that my big yellow flower card was selected as one of the ShowCASed cards for week 112.  Thank You so much!

On Saturday morning when I saw this week's challenge Lime & Black I really had NO idea what I would do. In fact, I wasn't even sure I would be able to make a card.  Friday night while I was making some shrimp gumbo for dinner, I burned the palm of my left hand.  I have a flat top (ceramic) stove and when the burner is turned on it glows red...when it's turned off, you don't see the red of the hot burner...although there is a little red light on the back of the stove to indicate that there is still a hot burner.  I'd used one of the burners on the front...turned it off...then promptly forgot that I just turned it off and put the palm of my hand down to balance myself to reach the cabinet over the stove to get something....OUCH!  I ended up having to go to the emergency room.  I had second degree burns on all five fingers and the palm of my hand under my index finger.  I immediately plunged my hand into cold water, and kept it in a bag of water until I got to the emergency room.  The doctors told me that I'd done the best thing possible by putting my hand in cold water.  They put some ointment on it to try to deaden the pain, but it didn't work very quickly!  I've had my hand bandaged for a couple of days now, and have put the ointment on twice a day as directed...and today when I removed the bandage, you can still see the burns...but they aren't nearly as bad as they were Friday night!   Hardly any swelling at all!

So...now that I have the use of all my fingers again...I made a few cards for the challenge.  I can't say that I'm delighted with all of them...in fact, a couple of them I made while my hand was bandaged yesterday...all I can say is...it was really interesting how I had to maneuver my bandaged hand to make a card!  Okay...I'll move along with my cards...

I made this card today and I think it is probably my favorite.  It's super simple.  I embossed the front of the card base, then popped the stamped layer on top.  I stamped the leaves in a lime green and added three tiny white flowers.  The sentiment is from Sweet n Sassy is stamped in black, and I added a black and white gingham ribbon across the bottom. I also added a dot of liquid pearls to the center of each of the little flowers.  I rounded the corners of the panel, and two of the corners of the card with a corner chomper.

I also made this card today.  I cut a white panel slightly smaller than the card base and embossed it with an embossing folder.  I added a lime green strip that was punched with a MS punch and put two small strips of black across the top of the green strip.  I added tiny black pearls to the scallops across the bottom.  The sentiment and flower are from PTI and are stamped in black.  The flower was an afterthought...the card just looked so plain without it.  I stamped the flower on a piece of white then cut it out and stuck it behind the green strip. I also rounded the corners with the corner chomper.

I made this card yesterday when my had was all bandaged up...and I decided this morning that I just didn't like it at all...too much black!  I made a lime green card base, and cut the butterfly (MB) from the same paper.  I cut a black panel and added tiny strips of black/white stripe paper to each edge.  The sentiment was embossed in white.

This card was also made yesterday when my had was bandaged up.....and it is a TOTAL flop!  I probably shouldn't have posted it, but it is what it is.....

I used some of my glimmer mists and sprayed a piece of white card stock, then added a black border.  The banner is cut with a Simon Says die, and the sentiment is also SS (I think).  I cut the die from both  black and white card stock, and added some pop dots for dimension.  Rounded the corners with the corner chomper.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Your comments and your visits are always appreciated!! Until next time...

Hugs!

Susan, all of these are stunning!! I can't even begin to pick a favorite! So beautiful.
I know exactly what you're going through with that hand as I burned my leg several years ago. There's just no other pain quite like it. Sending you super hugs! Hope it heals quickly.

You are too, too much, Susan! Even with (essentially) one hand tied behind your back, your cards are so stunning!!

In all seriousness, I'm very sorry about your terrible burn, but happy to hear that your palm is better. I hope it never happens again. That seems like a scary stove top arrangement to me! Take care!

I was so sorry to hear about your mishap Susan; burns are so very painful, I hope that you will be pain-free very soon. It's the sign of a dedicated LIMette to submit to our challenge under such difficult circumstances.
These are just lovely and I think that the first is my favourite!
It looks so fresh!
Thanks so much

I hope that hand will be completely better soon.

Susan, I'm glad your hand is getting better. Burns are so painful.
The second card is my favourite, followed by the first. The Sympathy card is not so my taste and the last one is not bad, I just think the card would improve with a little something on it, it is a bit bare.
But the colour combination is really an interesting one.
Have a good week, Nessie

All I can say is what a wonderful selection of beautiful cards and your hand under wraps too!

Hope your pain goes soon, my son did the same thing years ago, it looked awful, but because he had to keep his hand in a bag for a week, he has no scars, hope your's will be better soon.
