This is a quote by Sam Keen. After my husband passed away a few months ago, I was looking through his Bible one day and found a slip of paper that had been torn from a magazine...and this was the quote on the slip of paper. The quote really speaks volumes to me about love. I thought perhaps our granddaughter would appreciate the story behind this quote.

Low Country Boil....Yummy! |
Now....on to my cards for this week's LIM Challenge hosted by the talented Chrissie and Mandi! This week our challenge is to create a card with the following instructions based on this layout:

You can choose which of the 5 SQUARES from our plan you wish to use to place the image of your card, leaving the rest as PURE WHITE SPACE! The image may overflow the area slightly if necessary and the sentiment, should you choose to use one, may extend outside the area also, but it should be obvious exactly which area of the card you have chosen to fill. We will allow a rectangle, but, following the strict guidelines as the squares
I couldn't seem to make up my mind where I wanted to put an image, so I decided to just do a card for each section! For this first card I stamped in the lower right hand corner. (BTW, all but one of my cards ended up being one layer cards...hmmmm). I chose to make my cards 4.5 x 4.5 inches, just so I would have an envelope they would fit into...which in turn made it more difficult to get an image that would fit in the designated area!
For this first card, I stamped an image from Flourishes Spring has Spring collection. The sentiment is a SU sentiment that I've had for a while. I colored the image with Copics.
Now stamping in the upper left corner, using Flourishes Berry Sweet collection. The sentiment is from the same set. Colored with Copics....done!
For the top right corner, I chose to stamp part of an image from Flourishes Humming along collection. The image is colored with Copics and the tiny hummingbird was colored, cut out and then pop-dotted for a little dimension. Sentiment is from the same set.
Basically, I've spent most of my afternoon playing in my craft room and making cards. I should probably come up for air sometime soon!

Less is More - Off the Edge
Photos of my darling granddaughter, Helen Grace, taken in Oct 2010. I wanted to try my hand at creating a layout with absolutely NO patterned paper. In fact, I only used one sheet of white card stock for this layout. I cut the title letters from scraps of white card stock. I used Quikutz Diesel font for the word Sandbox and tunnel was cut with the Silhouette. To make the background, I tore a piece of copy paper and then used it to make my "hills" by placing the torn edge on my white card stock and inking the edges to make the "hills". I just moved the paper across the 12 x 12 card stock until I had the whole background completed. The umbrellas and shovel and pails are OLD stickers from my stash that I mounted on white card stock scraps and cut out. I cut the background paper to slip the pails into so that they could look slightly buried in the sand. I rough cut the end of the single shovel to give the appearance of being in the sand. Around the base of the blue pail and the group of embellies at the bottom, I added some inking shadows. The title letters were all inked and adhered to the background paper, then I added some dots with two different brown pens, and a touch of glitter with a glitter pen. Journaling is handwritten across the bottom and reads:
A beautiful fall morning, bright sunshine, and a huge mound of sand with a tunnel. What more could a girl ask for! At the Corn Maze - October 30, 2010.

She's a "Mama's Girl"
Maggie, you are definitely a Mama’s girl. If she’s in the room, you always make a beeline to her. I don’t get to see you often, but it didn’t take me long to figure out that you would only come to me if your Mama wasn’t in the room. I have to be really quick if I want to steal any kisses!

He's Got Charm
Today started off slow and lazy. I love days like this! So, since the day is mine to do with as I wish, I decided to finish up a little of the "decorating" in my scraproom. My son put up some shelves and a photo collage frame for me last night so I wanted to get it all set up. I played around with Photoshop Elements printing out photos for the collage frame. The first photo I printed didn't look quite right. Well, what do you know...I'm out of ink..AGAIN! So off to Office Depot to purchase the cartridges I needed, then back home. After getting the printer all set up with new ink cartridges, I finished up the pics for the new frame, and moved on over to my scrapping table.
During a conversation with my oldest daughter last night, she informed me that I scrap more photos of all the other grandchildren more than I do of her son, Jacob...DUH! It's very difficult to keep up with who get scrapped the most when you have 16 grandchildren to scrap for!!! LOL! Anywho...she's right (sort of), it's been a while since I've scrapped a picture of Jacob, so I printed these cool photos of him that I took last fall (worked much better with ink in the printer!)and got busy scrapping! Here's the layout...and I must say, I like the finished product!
I used Basic Grey Cappella papers for this layout. I matted the larger photo with brown then a larger black piece. I tore to bottom of the black piece and the brown piece I matted the smaller photo with. The chipboard stars were bare chipboard that I painted green, then coated them with glitter glam. Once that dried, I smudged all chipboard with a little walnut ink stain. On the smaller photo, I added a bit of twine and tied a button on top. I added a couple of little metal embellies (because I was challenged to do so by a group of friends).
That's about it for now. Thanks so much for stopping by...Until next time...

***More GCD***
Recently I was given the opportunity to create with some of the fabulous GCD Lydia collection. This is another layout I've completed from that collection. This one is all boy! I love how the papers were so perfect for the "John Deere" layout!
The little tags at the top were some pictures I found. The big tractor is from a photo and I cut it out and put it on pop dots. I stitched some "tracks" for the tractor wheels and added a little faux stitching around the yellow background. The title letters were cut with the Silhouette and mounted with pop dots.
These photos are three of my grandsons - Adam, Allen, and Jacob. We were at the Jay Peanut Festival (we live in the country - what can I say!) The festival had 20+ John Deere tractors displayed and these boys climbed on almost every one of them! We also had the opportunity to taste-test boiled peanuts (YUM!), fried peanuts, roasted peanuts...and of course, we bought a few green peanuts to bring home with us to boil and freeze. YUM-M-M-M-Y!!! Nothing better than a salty boiled peanut. (I've been told that's a "Southern" thing! LOL!).
Thanks for stopping by. Until next time...

Trying one of Pammy's Templates
Here's a new layout that I just completed with some photos I took right before Thanksgiving. As a contributing artist for Ideas for Scrapbookers, I wanted to use one of Pammy's templates and this leaf template was perfect with these pictures of Katie and Adam.
The large leaf is part of the template and I used it for a pattern to print my journaling on. The smaller leaves were punched with a large leaf punch. I actually "made" the paper that the leaves are punched from with several different color inks and the Tim Holtz sponge applicator (this is the applicator with the felt pads, but I used the foam pad attachments).I have posted the mini-tutorial with instructions on how to make the small leaves at Ideas for Scrapbookers. Take a minute to stop by Ideas for Scrapbookers and check out our awesome tutorials, templates, and layouts. We often have guest contributors and sometimes you'll find that you can win a RAK! Fun stuff...All the time!
Thanks so much for stopping by...and until next time...

Introducing MAGGIE ELIZABETH

This is Maggie. Isn't she just beautiful? She was born on November 16, 2009. She weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. This photo was made when she was just 4 days old. She wasn't suppose to be born by Cesarean section, but she managed to turn herself around a few days before and was breach...so that meant a c-section for Kimmer.
I hurried back home for a few days while Kimberly was still in the hospital and managed to get 40 birth announcements finished for her. I couldn't get them prepared beforehand since they didn't decide on a name until just a couple of days before she was born.

The photo I used for the birth announcement was one that I took when she was just one day old. The one from the hospital when she was dressed to go home was just adorable, and I wish I had used it, but this one is cute too.
Did I mention that she looks JUST like her mama? I'm still hoping that her hair will be red. It's hard to tell right now, because she doesn't have too much hair yet.
I was able to go back to Kimberly's last Sunday and stayed with them through Thanksgiving. I definitely have a thankful heart this year, not only for Maggie Elizabeth, but for all of my family and all of my beautiful grandchildren!
Hope your Thanksgiving was a wonderful day. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs!
