Surprise! Surprise!

Surprise, surprise!! Two posts in one week!  I'm on a roll this week! LOL!

I needed a couple of birthday cards for next week, and of course I only have three weeks to get 10-15 cards made for our widow's group...so I'm keeping busy!

Off we go...

One of my granddaughters will be 17 next week, so this first card is for her.  I have quite a few of the Julie Nutting dolls, but rarely use them...not sure why, because this cowgirl turned out adorable!  I sponged the sky and ground, then paper pieced all of her clothes and hair. Sentiment is from PTI.

This second card is for my sister in law who has a birthday next week also.  I'm really loving the floral stamps from Altenew!  Since I don't have dies for these stamps, I scanned the stamped image into my Silhouette program and made a cut file to go with the stamps...cut out 6 or 8 flowers and leaves, then stamped the image on the cut out...easy-peasy!  I did discover that you MUST make the cut border slightly larger than the stamped image or you'll never get it lined up to stamp....ask me how I know! LOL!  These floral images are multi layer stamps so I used several shades of HA ink to stamp, then added a little highlights with some Prismacolor pencils.  The cut out leaves were colored with Copics.  I stamped a couple of the blooms on the card panel, then popped up three cut out blooms over that.  LOVE how this turned out!

This card is something I wanted to try after watching a Simon Says video from Kelly Letevola.  It's like bleaching, only you use distress inks on watercolor paper...much easier than I thought it would be.  The image is from WPlus9 (Beautiful Bouquets: Dahlias).  I think I'll used this stamp and this technique often!  I also inked up the sentiment strip and stamped the sentiment (SSS) in versamark and heat embossed in white.  I was digging around in some of my old stuff and found the netting paper and thought it would be a great background for the watercolor panel.

These two cards are not my favorites, but I thought I'd share them anyway.  I got these dies from Tim Holtz because I thought they'd work well on cards and on scrapbook pages.  There are 7 dies in the set and most of them are fairly large.  Super simple cards, but at least I'll have a few in my stash.

I really appreciate all the visits and I always smile when you leave me a comment...it makes my day! I hope you'll come back to visit soon!

Until next time....

CASology - Egg, and a little bit more...

The cue word for the CASology challenge this week is egg.  I searched, but didn't have a stamp that was appropriate for this challenge...what to do?  Start working on an egg card with my Cameo...

Here's what I ended up with...

I don't normally send cards for Easter, so I thought I might be able to use this for my granddaughter's birthday that's coming up in a couple of weeks.

I cut the egg shape with the Cameo making the card base.  I cut a piece of card stock in green to cover the front of the card.  The broken egg and the chick were also cut with the Cameo.  I colored the chick with Copics and cut under his wings so that he could hang over the edge of the broken egg.  The "one cute chick" was computer generated.  I added some silver pearl drops, googly eyes on the chick, and a little silver highlighting.  The "U R" was cut with dies from MFT.  I also added a little Wink of Stella.

Here's a few more cards I've made for the widow's group...

I did a lot of ink blending and water coloring for the backgrounds.  The first two cards are water color backgrounds and the last two cards are ink blending with distress inks.

As always, if you have any questions about how I did something, just send me an email and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by for a visit!  Hope you'll come back soon!  Your comments are greatly appreciated! Until next time...

CASology - Moon & ATSAM #161

Second post of the day!  I'm on a roll!

The CASology challenge this week is "moon" and Addicted to Stamps and More challenge is one of my favorites...Anything Goes!
                          Addicted to Stamps and More!

First I have my card for the CASology challenge:

I have to admit I was stumped for a bit...but then I found this sentiment from PTI and realized it was perfect...now...what to go with it?  I had a light bulb moment and realized all I needed was a moon! So, I masked off a moon, then inked around it with DI (stormy skies).  I removed the mask and inked up the edges of the moon slightly, then added a few stars with a clear star glitter pen.  I cut the panel with the large rectangle stitched die from SSS and mounted it on the card base using fun foam.  Super quick and easy!

And...this is my card for the ATSAM challenge.

I adore the TH crazy birds stamps and the dies that go with them!  I love how this card turned out!  The bird's wing, eyes, and beak are all cut from a second image and popped up on the original colored image.  I used spray mists for the blue background (okay, okay!..I meant to get this finished so that I could enter it in the LIM challenge LAST week, but totally missed it!).  I used a gold Prisma pen to added a thin gold edge to the blue background and colored the bird with Zig clean color brush pens and water.  The sentiment is from PTI and is embossed in liquid platinum. The blue panel is popped up with fun foam and the bird is adhered directly to the blue background.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by for a visit!  Hope you'll come back soon!  Your comments are greatly appreciated! Until next time...
